Have you noticed improvements in Apple Maps Data?

Apple Maps - iOS 7
Apple’s brave move to replace Google maps with its own Maps app in iOS 6 backfired miserably and forced the company to issue an apology to its customers.

It was widely speculated that Apple would announce major improvements to the Maps app in iOS 8 such as improved points-of-interest data, public transit directions in select cities, augmented reality and indoor mapping at WWDC, but it has apparently got delayed due to  internal politics, a failure in management, and many developers leaving Apple.
One of the biggest problems with Apple’s Maps app, has been the points of interest data wasn’t very good. It was old, and often not very accurate.
Apple seems to be working hard to improve the mapping data. MacRumors reports that a number of users on its forums and reddit are reporting that they’ve noticed significant improvements in POI data in Apple’s Maps app. MacRumors forum user heyyoudvd shares his experience:
Over the past month, I’ve noticed a TON of changes. POI markers are being moved to their correct locations, names and information for POIs are being corrected, and tons of places are being added that simply weren’t there before. I don’t know if it’s merely coincidence, but A LOT of these changes are the exact ones that I’ve been reporting to Apple.
And I’ve noticed this happening on a weekly cycle. It seems like every Friday, a whole bunch of new changes are implemented in my neighborhood. All week, nothing happens, but then when I check on Friday/Saturday, I see that many of the suggestions that I had made during the week were suddenly implemented into the map, and its POIs suddenly look a whole lot better.
A number of users have also confirmed that they’re noticing similar improvements in POI data, and also quick turnaround with the corrections. Apple also recently rolled out a feature in the Maps app that gives users an option to be notified when the problem they’ve reported with the data has been fixed.
Do you use Apple Maps or have switched to another maps application? What has been your experience with Apple Maps lately? Have you also noticed improvements with the points of interest data? Let me know in the comments below.
